NIE OHNE MEIN SERUM

NEVER WITHOUT MY SERUM

What can serums do in contrast to a cream, how do they work and what does the term serum actually mean? VERALICE cosmetics expert Ulrike Keller-Knobelspies sheds light on the topic and gives useful tips on finding and using the perfect serum in our guide on serum. So nothing stands in the way of your youthful, radiant complexion!

What exactly does a serum mean?

“A serum is a mostly gel-like to watery, highly concentrated active ingredient preparation that intensively cares for the skin. Due to the consistency, many more active ingredients can be combined with each other than with a cream.“

The motto “Never without my serum!” is so important for beautiful skin because.

“Our skin begins to show its age more and more after the age of 30 and you can take simple but effective action against it with serums. Signs of skin aging or Skin changes caused by environmental factors such as sun exposure or stress are then more clearly visible. Only when cosmetic care ingredients, such as those contained in a serum, reach and stimulate the deeper layers of the skin can they achieve a real anti-aging effect and keep our skin fresh and smooth for longer.“

ulrike-keller-knobelspies57d6c562f211cHow do serums work and how do they differ from a classic cream? What can a serum do that a cream cannot?

“A serum works exactly where the skin needs care and does so with a concentrated load of active ingredients. Just a few drops of a serum - applied to the right place - are enough to achieve a big effect. Due to their light formulation, serums can penetrate much deeper into the skin layers compared to rich creams. Creams therefore have completely different tasks to care for the skin than serums.“

Which active ingredients are best suited for which skin needs?

“If you take a close look at your own skin, it often tells you straight away what is wrong. If the skin is dry and needs moisture, a serum with moisture extracts from apples or algae, for example, is the right choice. If your complexion looks dull and tired, cell boosters, which help build supporting collagen in the skin layers, are perfect. A cosmetic specialist consultation will help you find the right serum for your individual needs.“

What do I have to consider when using a serum?

“The best preparation for applying a serum: Cleanse the skin thoroughly with cleanser and tonic according to your skin type. Then apply the serum to dry skin. For the face, approx. is usually enough. three drops, one drop for the neck area, the décolleté can also be pampered with two drops.“

It's best to put the desired amount of drops into the palm of your hand, then apply the serum specifically with your fingers and press it in gently. Don't massage! A serum is quickly absorbed into the skin. Then apply a cream tailored to the individual needs of the skin.

Which serums are particularly suitable for different skin types:

A few drops of serum can work wonders after a certain amount of time. It should be particularly emphasized that a specific type of serum can be used for every skin problem:

  • To achieve tightening of the skin, a regeneration serum for the night is particularly recommended.
  • Redness and enlarged capillaries improve most quickly if a few drops of a serum with active ingredients such as calendula and butcher's broom are dabbed onto the affected areas every morning.
  • Large pores remain much finer during the day when an antioxidant and pore-refining serum is used.

With consistent use of a serum, lasting skin improvement can be seen after just a short time.

This is how serums – the miracle elixirs – are used and stored correctly:

Since a serum contains a lot of active ingredients, often light- or heat-sensitive, you should make sure that the bottle is always tightly closed. With a serum with vitamin C, it is particularly important that not too much oxygen gets into the bottle, as this will cause the delicate serum to change and crystallize.

How do you use serums correctly?

“The absolute power kick for the skin is the VERALICE “sandwich” method for actively treating skin problems”, says Ulrike Keller-Knobelspies. “Several serums can also be applied on top of each other, for example:

  1. a couperose serum, which works against skin redness and visible veins,
  2. a special eye serum against eye swelling and
  3. a Moisturizing Booster that is distributed over the entire face to preserve skin moisture.“

A serum enhances the effect of the cream applied over it. Experience how just a few drops can make lasting changes to your skin.
